| Hayden Associates functioned as
design engineers for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) for a new
bottling plant constructed in Michrow, Poland. To comply with the 8 ppm BOD5 effluent
limitation, the treatment plant consisted of equalization, pH control, biofilter, and
activated sludge processes. A submerged aquatic filter was installed after the secondary
clarifier to remove suspended solids, COD, ammonia and phosphate. The high degree of
clarity and quality was required since the plant effluent was discharged to a national
forest stream. Prior to obtaining the permit, the Polish DEP required studies to determine
the hydraulic and assimilative capacities of the stream. Hayden Associates commissioned
the treatment plant and trained the operators. |
