| The treatment system was
designed and installed to control pH, remove free oils, measure flow and collect composite
samples of wastewater discharged from the research laboratories and pilot bottling
facility. A six-week sampling project was conducted to measure the flow, sample and analyze the wastewater for BOD5, COD, pH, acidity-alkalinity and volatile organics. Using the results of the sampling, a second pH control system was designed and installed to equalize flow and neutralize the pH of the wastewater from the pilot bottling facility. Automatic controls were added to divert the flow to the sewers in the event of malfunction and to provide warnings of overfills and spills. The controls were connected to the buildings facility management computer. |
